“A Comprehensive Guide” perfectly describes this book. I started implementing Employee Central since 2012, and since its inception, the products functionality has expanded significantly. This book is a front to back explanation in business terms, which you can easily apply and understand, to the functionalities in the system. It covers everything from project preparedness to fundamentals, to business rules, configurations, security, reporting, integrations and so much more. If you are a consultant, a customer, a project manager, a sales rep... At some level you will reference this book if you have any interaction with the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central solution. Ansel Adams at 100 celebrates the centenary of one of America's best-loved photographers. This superlative catalog of an exhibition organized by San Francisco Museum of Modern Art presents the most dramatic and the most delicate of Adams's formal compositions, from spectacular mountainscapes to grasses on a pond, all reflecting his avowedly religious relationship to nature. Previously unpublished examples of Adams's early images show how he worked through the day, using changing light and different vantage points to interpret a subject. A fascinating comparison of his darkroom techniques is given in two printings of a 1948 negative of Mount McKinley, made in 1949 and 1978 to very different effects, one brooding and luminous, the other crisp and monumental. (The conventional wisdom is to prefer the earlier, but this reviewer loves them both.) The text by John Szarkowski, director emeritus of New York MoMA's photography department, gives biographical details and gracefully places Adams in the history of 20th-century photography and the conservation movement. Impeccable technical standards were a hallmark of Adams's work, and this book follows his tradition. Each black-and-white image is a tritone, meaning that it was printed from three different plates corresponding to different parts of the original photograph's gray scale, resulting in an extremely rich chromatic range. Light really does appear to glisten off a wet rock, and white aspens to glow. The images have been very carefully chosen, each page of a double spread complementing the other. The book's paper is custom-made, it is bound in linen and presented in a linen slipcase, and a complimentary facsimile of one of Adams's icons is included. The whole adds up to a most unusual and pleasing artifact: Ansel Adams at 100 consciously sets out to be the definitive study of a master, and it succeeds. --John Stevenson

Grandly proportioned, linen-bound and graceful as the images it conveys, Ansel Adams at 100 commemorates the birth of the famous native San Franciscan photographer with 114 of Adams's rich, beloved images spanning his oeuvre, and some delightful photos of the artist. The book and accompanying centennial exhibit at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art (Aug. 2001-Jan. 2002), curated by John Szarkowski, director of the department of photography at New York's Museum of Modern Art, reevaluate the impact of Adams's work on photography, landscapes and the audience. "His pictures have enlarged our visceral knowledge of things that we do not understand," writes Szarkowski. He relates specific epiphanies that propelled Adams's evolution as an artist, such as when he shot Monolith, the Face of Half Dome, having suddenly realized that using a specific filter would "deepen the tone of the sky almost to black" and capture his emotional experience of the vista.

"AA at 100" is recognized as the consummate volume of his work. Superbly
reproduced images are likely the closest most of us will get to seeing his work
as he visualized. For anyone seriously interested in photographic legacy and history, the book
is a 'must have,' along with "Edward Weston's 50 Years."

An excellent companion volume to 'AA at 100' is Adams' "Examples: The Making of
40 Photographs." In this book, AA offers both technical and anecdotal notes for many
of his iconic images.

A beautifully presented and boxed/packaged volume with a wonderful accompanying text. This is a great buy at an excellent price. This does not mean that one should ignore the other Ansel Adams that are available through Amazon. "Ansel Adams: Yosemite and The High Sierra" is also a must buy for anyone loving this photographer.

About the Author
Growing up, Rick Osborne really liked Superman. Superman did what was right, he did cool things that other people couldn’t do, and he never quit. The Bible is full of great Superman-type stories where God helps good guys battle evil guys with his awesome supernatural help. By telling these stories, Rick loves to help boys see the real-life superhero that God wants each of them to be. Rick lives with his family up north in Canada, closer to where Superman built his fortress.

Jim Griffin, illustrator and award-winning artist, studied at the renowned Pratt Institute. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and can be found in prestigious private collections.

One of the keys to Christmas is generosity, and "The Legend of the Christmas Stocking" by Rick Osborne is a great way to emphasize this with our children.

In this children's adaptation of the bestselling adult's book of the same title, we're taken back to Victorian times when a young boy named Peter is anxiously awaiting the return of his father's ship. He's also anxiously awaiting the day he can purchase a fine model of that ship, with money he's earned selling newspapers. But Uncle Jim asks: "What if your dad doesn't get back by Christmas? Would you be willing to use the money you saved to buy presents for your family instead?" Peter's is the only available money for Christmas presents, but Peter can't bear the thought of not getting his much longed for model. Can he really sacrifice his own wants for that of his sisters'?

Then Pastor Spring preaches a sermon on giving, telling his congregation the story of St. Nicholas, who knew three young women who could not afford a dowry, and therefore would never be able to marry. Secretly, he tossed bags of gold through two of their windows, ensuring the girls a more pleasant future. With the last girl, the gold lands in her stocking, which has been hung over the fireplace to dry. Pastor Spring says:

"Nicholas served God. He knew that God gave us Jesus, even though we didn't deserve him. When we give, it shows God's love."

Hearing this, Peter asks God to help him be more giving. On Christmas morning, his sisters find gifts in their Christmas stockings, and just as his mother opens the present Peter has given her, Peter's father bursts through the door and presents Peter with the model ship he's so wanted.

What I Like: Children will recognize themselves in this story's protagonist; Peter struggles with his desire to give and his own selfishness, just as most of us do. It's also nice that this book gives a peek at the story of the real Santa Claus. The illustrations by Jim Griffin are beautiful - realistic, compelling, and detailed.

What I Dislike: Nothing.

This is such a sweet, classic book with a wonderful lesson weaved throughout it. It blends fiction and history together seemlessly and provides children with a better understanding of what Christmas really means.

Sharing Christmas Stories

I sent this book to my grandchildren a couple of states away. It's a Christmas ritual that I send several Christmas books for them..it's more fun for me than for them I think. I got raving reviews from all of them. The children are 6,4,and 2. They wanted mommy and daddy to read it over and over again. I was so pleased they enjoyed it so much!

Great Collection, Easy Keys but small print.

Great selection of Christmas music. Most are in easy to play keys. Only reason for 4 stars is print size. To get the large number of selections they used a rather small print. I admit I have the eyes of a 75 year old man but they are pretty good and I have a bit of a hard time seeing the music to only to the print size. Just a few points larger in size would make all the difference.

Type is small, but big enough

I needed it simply lead sheets to play behind my congregation during our xmas celebration. I love the binder, the type is kind of small, but it's big enough to read the chord changes. This will last awhile due to the awesome binder.

About the Author
Julie Moir Messervy is a noted landscape and garden designer, author, lecturer, and principal of Julie Moir Messervy Associates in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Messervy designed the Toronto Music Garden in collaboration with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and gardens for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, and the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Garden, Columbus, Ohio. She is a columnist for "Fine Gardening "magazine and author of three previous books.
She received her BA from Wellesley College and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's School of Architecture, where she received her Master of Architecture and Master in City Planning degrees. She trained with the eminent Japanese garden master Kinsaku Nakane in Kyoto, Japan.
Sarah Susanka has become one of the best known and most highly regarded architects in the United States, and is a leading advocate for the popularization of residential architecture. Her first book, "The Not So Big House," topped best-seller charts across the country

You will be so glad you bought this!

This wonderful book truly inspires gardeners and do-it-yourself landscapers. It is full of unusual, exciting, and achievable ideas for lawns, beds, pools, pavings, and more. The acknowledgements say that the wealth of photos and plans were submitted by many designers and then selected by Julie Messervy and her staff at JMMDS (Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio). Perhaps that partly explains the enormous variety of ideas in this book, but anyone familiar with Ms. Messervy’s work and her many other books will not be surprised to find so many kinds of beautiful ideas for designing outdoor spaces.

A few of the great design ideas in the book are things that I have heard of before—like the importance of focal points—but many others are new, tremendously helpful concepts to me, like the advisability of dividing your space into zones. I also love the way the design ideas cover a wide spectrum, from a dramatically unusual meditative labyrinth of sedum, riverstone, and raked earth to more traditional treatments of gates, walls, fences, etc.

The before and after pictures of the DIY backyard would inspire anyone, and I also particularly love the ideas for side yards, garages, and driveways, the “green ideas that work,” and above all, the way this book suggests things that I can actually achieve—building, creating, and maintaining my landscape on my own.

And now I’m totally inspired to have chickens for pest control!

I really like the author 'a approach to landscape design. Her concepts, sketches, and beautiful photography clearly convey her principles while challenging the reader to create an outdoor living space uniquely theirs.

This is a fantastic book full of fresh ideas and supported by a knowledgeable text. Julie Moir Messervy's books are always good and I think this is the best so far. Her designs and those pictured are a real feast for landscape designers. I will refer to this book regulalry when designing. Highly recommended.

Excellent comprehensive overview

This book covers one thing very comprehensively-- robot grippers! It is similar to the illustrated mechanical device source books found on Amazon, but with a specific focus.

It's organized well and reads easily once you've reviewed the glossary of terms used (provided early in the book). Being new to this subject area, I found it very helpful and got many design ideas from it.

Great great book for the price. I had to wait longer for it to ship however the wait was worth it. I am learning new lettering and fonts I will utilize in my everyday life and in my crafts.

Great reminder of what artistic integrity is all about

Although the text-instructional section of this book is not long, it is very poignant. While lettering and font design today is just a computer-generated afterthought in too many cases, in the earlier era (this book was written in 1946), commercial artists had to really know and FEEL their lettering. I love to read a craftsman describe his craft with such depth of feeling, describing fonts as exquisite, and exhorting readers to strive for the greatest heights they can achieve in hand lettering. A great introduction, in any case, to the world of words in print, from the artists point of view.
