Zeke is Mine, not Scarlett. ❤❤❤

I'm hooked on this series. The emotions and intensity Harper brings to her characters is phenomenal and emotional. I love it.

"At times she could be a handful, but that was probably the best part because she didn’t put up with my s*** and I liked that."

Handful is an understatement. The only think that annoyed me a little bit is Scarlett was so insecure and I wanted her to see how much Zeke adored her, but she's been hurt so it's understanding.

You will fall hard for Zeke. Harper Bentley knows how to write hot alpha men.

Excellent romance story

Both main characters had very developed characters. Writing each chapter by meeting was unique. The story was an up and down roller coaster ride. Characters from first book were also in this book so series should b read in order for best experience. The book can stand on its own though. It's a light hearted, no world problems solved or contemplated . Just a good romance novel.

Mike Wilks (British, b. 1947) began his artistic career at age thirteen when he won a scholarship to art school. He ran a successful graphic design business for five years before he sold it and began writing and illustrating books in 1975. He rocketed to fame following publication of The Ultimate Alphabet in 1986; the puzzle book sold 750,000 copies worldwide. After eight illustrated books, he established himself as a novelist with The Mirrorscape Trilogy, a fantasy adventure series. This set of books is amazing. I love the talent of Mike Wilks. We found him through the game Scrutineyes years ago, which featured his artwork as part of an object-finding game. My only gripe is I wish the format of these books was larger so that you could enjoy the detail of the art better. The Scrutineyes panels were much larger, which was nice, especially for those with older eyes. Overall, though, I highly recommend these amazing pieces of art!

So pretty

What a beautiful book! I'm not quite sure how I found this, but I have the game Scrutineyes, which is my favorite and includes only a few of these pictures. When I saw the book, I couldn't believe there was a picture for every letter. It is also accompanied by a second book, the annotated version which lists every picture and what they are.
Beautiful artwork and hours of viewing enjoyment.

I cannot count the hours I spent pouring over the Annotated Ultimate Alphabet, starting when I was 10 and continuing through college, when my copy disappeared in a move. I'm delighted that it's finally reprinted, and I can share it again with friends and family. It is an astoundingly wonderful book.

A Beautiful Deception

I give this book 3 stars to split the difference between the 1 star it deserves as a book, and the 5 it deserves as a marketing lesson.

Like most reviewers so far, I bought this book because I'm a fan of SG. However, while I do believe he is preaching his message with the sincere intention to serve us, his readers, I must disagree with the raving reviews. As I read the same message he's given us before, remixed with nuggets from his vast reading, I feel deja vu. The book is like a handful of fortune cookies from SG's all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet.

The Icarus Deception is grab-bag of his market insight and signature motivational style, already well-expressed on his blog and in his other books. The references to SG's broad reading (even Ulysses gets a nod) was probably thrown in to mix things up, but all it does for this reader is mix up things.

The cajoling to seize your destiny, and live as an artist of life, is not without charm. But SG can do better. He is better than this book. His readers certainly deserve better. Mr. Godin, your readers deserve all of that enormous brain of yours, not just the clever marketing gland (which I can only assume is just above the lizard brain).

A good book on life and work as an artist is the "The Elephant and the Flea" by Charles Handy.

Good examination of what it means to be an artist - could've been much shorter

Overall I’d recommend this book.

His basic message is to create things you feel compelled to create, because that's your best shot at success in this new economy.

With the advent of the Internet, distribution is now basically free. In the traditional economy, everything was tangible and thus scarce. Customers demanded these goods, so value was created when you could bring these goods to the customers. That created lots of gatekeepers who would decide how to allocate their scarce resources: retailers charge slot fees, publishing houses pick authors, etc.

However, now distribution is free: billions of people are (mostly) free to connect with any of the others billions of people. It’s an unprecedented and amazing time for us, given how important connections are to us.

But because distribution is free, there’s a lot more noise out there. Curation is still important. How do you cut through all the noise and add value to other people?

The answer is that you do things that are valuable and are worthy of cutting through the noise. And the author asserts you do that in two ways: making a commitment to art, and getting good at that art.

Art, as defined by the author, is work that is new, real, and important. It’s using your gifts to make a difference in other people’s lives.

It’s operating without a map, exploring the edge of what’s possible. And, it’s inherently risky. You might fail. You’ll probably fail. There have always been “safe paths”, but those necessarily required you to follow a plan that’s not yours. And people usually have to give up part of themselves to follow it.

Instead, now today, we live in a world where you can create your own path. You can find and serve your customers wherever they are. But you need to find your unique offering, because if you just copy someone else, then customers will just go to that someone else.

There are millions of bloggers out there, but certain bloggers stand out in part because of their unique voice. We connect with them, we like their style and personality. But I’m not going to connect with every great blogger because some will just rub me wrong. That’s OK, because someone I connect with will rub someone else the wrong way.

When you can’t please everyone, that’s OK in the new economy. In fact, that is a differentiator.

One action item from this book is to recognize situations where I’m feeling internal fear/stalling/insecurity when creating, recognizing procrastination and subtle instinct to seek approval. Another is to remember that shame is a choice – you can’t feel ashamed without your permission, only if you agree it’s bad.

The major critique I have for this book is it’s way too long. This thing could’ve been 25% the size and still gotten the major points across. It meanders this way and that way. I’m sure he could’ve made more concise without compromising himself.

I Love Seth (but this book is 1.5x too long)

The book in a nutshell:

1. We've been brainwashed by the industrial complex to fly too low, to comply, to surrender our brilliance for perceived security.
2. That strategy once worked--our comfort zone and that safety zone we were offered were aligned.
3. They are no longer aligned and most aren't noticing. That's dangerous. The world tilted on it's axis and folks aren't noticing.
4. The new gig is to produce "art" in whatever you do (no matter what you do), because art "connects" and people want connection.
5. Everybody can be an artist at whatever they choose to do. You don't need to change your work or career. Just elevate your work to art.
6. But to do that you have to step over fear and the lizard brain (amygdala) we have that screams "you are gonna die!" if we attempt to do something risky and creative.
7. But you gotta do that because the world is waiting on your art, your connection, your breath of fresh air.

The bulk of the book is looking at the nuances of all this in about 88 different ways when you'd really probably get it after four. He's got a great theme and call to action, and there are some gems in here to be sure. But there are times when I was simply thinking to myself, "Really, Seth? I trusted you, and you are driving me around all the blocks in the neighborhood when just a couple would have conveyed the sense of the place."

But heck. Maybe I didn't get the "art" of this type of book. But don't get me wrong. I'll buy the next Seth book because Seth rocks and all. But, my goodness, this was the longest short read I've ever read, and I even just skimmed all the Kickstarter Acknowledgements that are a whopping 20% of the total length of the book. Would I recommend the book? I am glad for the gems I pulled out of it. But, honestly, after seeing the pattern, I was ready for the book to be over with. So the answer is, "It depends." If what you are looking for is a kick in the pants to get on with your "art," I'd recommend Pressfield's "The War of Art" instead. If you are not sure you are an artist or can be an artist at whatever you do, and want to entertain that idea, then this book might be for you.

This is the best Ilocano dictionary out there.
The author's love and dedication to the Ilocano language is an accurate reflection of the hardwork over that years that he has put into this impressive and high-quality dictionary.
Not many dictionaries dealing with Philippine languages are as detailed as this one. And not many go great lengths as to include a meaty grammatical sketch, history, and explanation of pronunciation. However, this one does. And very well, I may add.
This dictionary itself is two sections (English & Ilokano). Ilokano words are listed by rootword along with its affixed varieties and their varieties. Entries usually have a Tagalog equivalent and maybe even equivalents in other Philippine languages such as Ibanag, Kankana-ey, Pangasinan, and others.
Since stress plays a significant role in the meaning of Ilocano words, I am very grateful that accent marks have been included.
I also have to mention a comprehensive appendix dealing with charts of "fused" pronouns and verb affix charts. There are even lyrics to popular Ilocano songs such as Pamulinawen, Toy Karayo, and Tontonennaka toy Ayat.
This book is perfect for anyone; be it a tourist visiting the Ilocos region, a person of Ilocano descent, a linguist, a language enthusiast, or even a Filipino who is curious about the language of his or her Ilocano countrymen.
Also, the covering of this book ensures that it will last for a long time.
As an enthusiast of Philippine languages, excellent resources such as this gem come few and far between. I am completely satisfied with this book, and I'm guessing that you probably will, too.

Best book on this language

Seeing as this is only one of two grammars of Ilocano I've ever seen--the other one being in a university library 20 years ago that was somebody's doctoral dissertation printed on poor quality, smudgy paper--I was prepared to read it no matter how bad it was. The surprise was that this is a very well done grammar of Ilocano, along with separate phrase and word dictionaries that are quite extensive. The author has a Ph.D. in languages and linguistics himself from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his interest and enthusiasm in the language comes through in this very well done book.
Ilocano belongs to the northern Marianas subfamily of the western Austronesian language group, and is spoken by about 10 million people, mostly on the northern Philippine island of Luzon. It has many interesting grammatical features, such as having an ergative-absolutive based case system, an extensive system of prefixes, infixes, and postfixes, as well as enclitic particles (i.e., word morphemes that can be attached to more than one category of words), and a three-way spatial system of demonstrative pronouns consisting of the proximal, distal, and medial, similar to Kapampangan, another language from Luzon. Like other Philippine languages, it is a predicate-initial language, meaning that verbs and adjectives usually occupy the initial position in a sentence. It makes extensive use of sound symbolism, having many onomatopoetic root words. In that sense it sounds similar to Swahili, which has something known as "onomatopoetic ideophones"--words which attempt to capture in sound the idea of the object, such as in the word, "trinka-trinka," (or tractor). I'm not sure if the two features in Ilocano and Swahili are really the same, but Swahili is the only other language I've read about that does something like this.
The first 101 pages of the book are devoted to the phonology, morphology, and syntax of Ilocano, with the remaining 165 pages being taken up by the phrase dictionary and the word dictionary. Throughout the grammar portion the author intersperses numerous vocabulary lists, so you can build your vocabulary as you go along. According to what I've read, this is the most extensive dictionary of Ilocano to date, and was compiled from a large number of sources. This is no doubt the best book on Ilocano out there, and one of the most scholarly as well as readable books and grammars on a more exotic language that I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of them). :-)

Most Comprehensive Ilocano Dictionary - Publisher's Release

The Ilocano Dictionary and Grammar is the most comprehensive dictionary ever produced for Ilocano (Iloko), the lingua franca of Northern Luzon, and historically the native language of the majority of Filipino immigrants to the United States. The body of the dictionary includes entries for roots and affixes, with illustrative sentences, idioms, proverbs, common derivatives, and scientific names (when applicable). Tagalog, Pangasinan, Ibanag, and Kapampangan equivalents are supplied for high frequency words. Derived words that undergo morphological fusion are listed as separate entries to facilitate lexical searches. There is also an affix cross-reference list to help the beginning student recognize root words. Sources of loan words are indicated. The Grammar (including Phonology, Morphology and Syntax sections) is an version of the author's thesis "A Reference Grammar of Ilocano" rewritten in a pedagogical format. The Appendixes include grammatical charts, maps and traditional Ilocano songs.
