Amazing

The publication quality of the book is unbelievably good. I highly recommend getting the hardcopy book and not just the Kindle version because the book is so realistic, with all the inserts such as a torn newspaper clipping, envelope, postcard, etc, being so perfect (like the newspaper clipping is actual newspaper) that it's hard not to imagine that I have Elliot's actual book in my hands.

The content is pulled together, oddly enough, by comments by Hot Carla written in the margins. Since some of us suspected there was more to Hot Carla than we got from the show, it's nice to learn more about her.

Do not read this book if you haven't at least seen most of season two or you will spoil a plot twist.

Curiouser and Curiouser, Down the Rabbit Hole We Go...

I'm normally not one to post reviews. However, after being blow away by the quality of this book, I felt the need to speak up.

As mentioned by others, the quality of this book is so great that I actually thought they sent me a special copy of the handwritten composition notebook used on set! Not only is the text authentic, but the various inserts that come with it put it over the top, blurring the lines between a manufactured book and reality.

I'm a huge fan of Mr.Robert the television show. You NEED this book if you are too.

Also, if you are a fan of the Cloverfield Franchise and have knowledge of the Alternate Reality Game that pairs with that particular franchise, this book is for you! You will feel apart of the Mr. Robert universe. Just make sure not to loose too much of a grip on reality.

Awesome stuff!

I thought it will be a boring book-like-the-movie wannabe book. Turns out it's pretty good. With some off-the-book notes and such, looks so authentic.
All the papers surfaces are flat (except for the hardcover), not it's like has been written by a pen/cils, but the inking was so good!

Day 1: Satisfied with the condition. Haven't read the story yet.

Pretty recommended for Mr. Robot fan!

Absent a royal family, the American people have developed a thirst for subjects for gossip from on high. In Bill and Hillary Clinton, they have them. Roger Morris charges the first family with misdeeds committed while upon the throne in Arkansas: Bill taking money from Whitewater partner James McDougal; Hilary using well-connected brokers to win fabulous returns on her investments; the governor's affairs; and their friendship with a drug-dealing bond daddy, to name a few. Morris, author of National Book Award nominee Richard Milhous Nixon: The Rise of an American Politician (LJ 12/89), has written arguably the most damning indictment of the Clintons to date. Excellent books - digs deep on the Clintons. Buy it!

Roger Morris is a very credible author. He and his wife Sally Denton put out fabulous work on every topic they research. And the inside scoop on Bill Clinton is no different.

Roger Morris was one of the first to find out that Bill Clinton had been recruited into the CIA when he was at Oxford - to inform on his anti-war buddies. The CIA is the one who paid for Clinton's trips into Eastern Europe. Cord Meyer of the CIA was the one who recruited Clinton and he reported as much to GOP uber insider Jack Wheeler.

Roger Morris also came across another one of Bill Clinton's vicious sexual assaults. Not the Juanita Broaddrick rape of 1978, but yet another vicious sexual assault in which Clinton - YET AGAIN - bites a woman victim and sexually assaults her. Clinton later appointed this woman's husband to the Arkansas Real Estate Commission - probably to keep them quiet.

"A young woman lawyer in Little Rock claimed that she was accosted by Clinton while he was attorney general and that when she recoiled he forced himself on her, biting and bruising her. Deeply affected by the assault, the woman decided to keep it all quiet for the sake of her own hard-won career and that of her husband. When the husband later saw Clinton at the 1980 Democratic Convention, he delivered a warning. 'If you ever approach her,' he told the governor, 'I'll kill you.' Not even seeing fit to deny the incident, Bill Clinton sheepishly apologized and duly promised never to bother her again." [Partners in Power, page 238]

Roger Morris interviewed the anonymous couple who are socially prominent in Arkansas in late 1993 and again in early 1994.

A juicy, captivating examination of our former leader

"Partners in Power" is an inside look at the lives of our former leader and his wife, President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. The book is an intelligent, interesting reading, even shocking and surprising at times. We get the juicy, inside scoop on what went on behind the scenes. Bill's childhood and political career are thoroughly examined here. The author is clearly very educated as his prose is intensely thought-provoking. Opinions are abundant here, and he actually criticizes Clinton from the left. A brief synopsis of modern political history is interwoven in the book. I learned an enormous amount from reading this book, as it is full of interesting information. For example, apparently Clinton had drugs and hookers in the Arkansas Governor's Mansion, with his security helping to keep things secret. It is very funny at times too. This is one of the best political books I have read.

The essential King

"I Have a Dream: Writings and Speeches That Changed the World," by Martin Luther King, Jr., is a fine collection of texts by this important figure. The book has been edited by James M. Washington. Coming in at less than 300 pages, this is a concise but meaty book.
Washington includes King's most important texts: the "Letter from Birmingham Jail"; the "I Have a Dream" speech; his Nobel Prize acceptance speech; "My Trip to the Land of Gandhi"; "A Time to Break Silence," his 1967 speech criticizing the United States war in Vietnam, and more. These writings and speeches cover King's great themes: nonviolent resistance, the African-American civil rights movement, etc.
Those seeking a more comprehensive collection of Kings' work should seek out "A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr." also edited by James M. Washington. At more than 700 pages, this is a truly monumental collection, and includes much material not found in "I Have a Dream": the 1965 "Playboy" interview, transcripts of television interviews, and more. But for those who want a shorter text that cuts to the heart of King's life and work, "I Have a Dream" is perfect.
"I Have a Dream" reveals King to be a true Christian prophet, and a man with a global vision. As literature, these texts also show King to be the heir of such American thinkers as Henry David Thoreau and W.E.B. DuBois. Highly recommended.

AMERICANS SHOULD REALIZE THIS 'DREAM' TO THE FULLEST!

Dr. Martin Luther King's collection of writings and speeches, "I Have A Dream", brings aspiration to light. The events that surrounded the life and death of this true hero reveals the shameful fact that no matter how great the United States of America is today, it is one country that was nurtured with inhumane machinery: slavery, racism, injustice, Mickey-Mouse freedom, and Mickey-Mouse democracy. I hate to think about it, but it is an honest fact, which we should all come to terms with. Nobody can rewrite history.
The 256 pages that is "I Have A Dream" was enough to highlight the wickedness and the violence that were deliberately sustained in America, for a full century, after a bloody Civil War ended her tenacity on slavery.
One question that will always beg for answer is: How on earth did U.S. Presidents who presided over the ruthless color-bar era qualified for those Nobel Peace Prizes that they received? Knowing what life was like in the U.S.A. just a couple of decades ago melts my heart. "I Have A Dream" is a big eye-opener!

A compilation of some of the most eloquent and prophetic words you will ever hear

Interestingly, I note that in the review title I wrote "hear" and not "read." Why? Because the words in this book are truly alive: reading it is like hearing MLK, Jr. himself here and speaking them today. What a gift!
Although the book is not a complete compendium of all of his writings and speeches, it does contain an excellent representative sample of the wide scope of his ideas and works – not just on Civil Rights per se, but also on the Viet Nam War, domestic and international politics, the economy, and human behavior; almost all of which is as accurate and applicable today as it was 50 years ago.
Why then, only four stars? Because there was one thing about the book that was a little unsettling to me. In the "I Have a Dream" speech, which I read in the book along with watching a video of the speech itself, I found some discrepancies between what was written in the text of the book and the words MLK, Jr. actually spoke. These were relatively minor, but included an omitted sentence, a couple of omitted phrases, a substituted adjective, and a pair of reversed words. Whether or not there are similar discrepancies elsewhere in the book I don't know (and maybe these are just differences between written speech notes and what he actually said), but I would expect the editing of a book like this to ensure a perfect match between what was said in a speech and what is written in the book, especially for something as seminal as the “I Have a Dream” speech. This is not a reason not to buy the book, but it would be enough to make me want to verify any direct quotes from the book in cases where 100% accuracy is essential.

Compared with Erik Trinkhaus and Pat Shipman's The Neandertals ( LJ 12/92), which traces the history of Neanderthal discoveries, this book is more concerned with current interpretations of the fossil record. English anthropologists Stringer and Gamble hope to settle the controversy over the Neanderthals' proper branch on humanity's family tree by taking their case to a general audience. They marshall the evidence in favor of the "Out of Africa 2" scenario, contending that Neanderthal populations in Europe and the Middle East were replaced by a second African migration between 130,000 and 50,000 years ago. Neanderthals, therefore, are not directly ancestral to modern humans. The authors make a strong case for their interpretations, but they offer little more than a caricature of competing theories. Still, this is an important and readable book, with many good illustrations. Recommended for academic and public libraries.

Brilliant

Having only a cursory knowledge about human pre-history, I asked a colleague in the anthropology department for a good primer. He gave me this. It was a veritable cornicoupia of information, even as the authors sought to provide their own answers to quesitons of acadmeic controversey.

The central question Stringer and Gamble seek to answer is: are modern humans kin to Neaderthals, or are we distantly related? In answering this, readers are treated to a briefing on the ice age world of the Lower and Middle Paleolithic, the relation of Neanderthals to other early humans, the way in which Neanderthals have been understood (and seen) by science and the public, before the book really hits its stride in disucssing the archaeology of Neanderthal sites and what they tell us about these early humans.

The authors belive that modern humans are related to (rather than directly from) Neanderthals, and that by the Upper Paleolithic, were being replaced by modern humans coming out of Africa ("Out of Africa II"). The evidence in support of this is strong, although not overwhelming: mtDNA (mitochondrial DNA) as well as behavioural data are primarily used.

In all, it was a worthwhile and fascinating read, and certainly provides more depth on the specific case of Neanderthals than other books on early humans.

Well done...

The authors really do a great job in doing a detailed study of Neanderthals, their lives and their world. They catalogue the fossils found, examine how we know what we know from the bones, tools and even the ash from the fires.
The only problem is that the book was published in 1993-1994 and does not take into account later DNA tests and the four-year-old child who lived five thousand years after the last of the Neanderthals SHOULD of died (found in 1999)who showed signs of interbreeding between modern humans and Neanderthals. So, while the conclusion in the book that we did not come from Neanderthals may not be correct (and still open to debate), the chapters dealing in detail with Neanderthal tools, camp sites, society, art and burial are a must for people interested in the subject...

This book provides the foundation for implementing a customer centric cultural transformation that will run deep within your organization, and that will provide for long-term changes. This is not simply about sprinkling a bit of magic on the outside and hoping that it holds. The Disney Way starts with buy-in from leadership, invites front-line employees to develop a foundation, and leaves employees with the fundamentals necessary to make positive customer oriented decisions. Bill and Lynn do a great job presenting Disney's key principles to success, and mixing in many examples from the companies they have worked with in a way that is easily digested and makes clear the reward of the long-term commitment needed for execution. It could be said that Pilkey (Kat Kong; the Dragon books) never let a good story go unPUNished. From its open-mouthed mutt to its put-upon family to its climactic burglary scene, this latest entry might have been modeled on Susan Meddaugh's Martha Speaks. But Pilkey's silly tales forage unabashedly for lowbrow laughs, and his aim is usually accurate, even if adults more than kids will catch these halitosis jokes. Here, "a dog named Hally, who lived with the Tosis family," emits green puffs of breath so toxic they knock Grandma Tosis out of her chair. When the Tosis parents put their putrid pet up for adoption, the Tosis kids try to save Hally: they bring her to a site with a "breathtaking view"; to a movie (starring "Perry O'Donnel and Giner Vitus") said to leave audiences "breathless"; and to a roller coaster so fast it makes riders lose their breath-to no avail. Yet a glimpse of a headline on a newspaper (called The Daily Foreshadow) and a wanted poster showing two robbers presage a happy ending: the villains visit the Tosis home and suffer the odiferous consequences. Pilkey's punchy art, characterized by heavy black outlines and bold colors, matches the clowning quality of the text (the watercolors, pencils, magic markers, and Dijon mustard"). Guaranteed to ward off smellancholy. Ages 4-8.

PreSchool-Grade 2?Corny jokes, plays on words, and garishly colored illustrations are Pilkey's stock-in-trade. This outrageous book continues the tradition. Hally is a fine, loving dog with horrible breath. Even skunks avoid her. When Mr. and Mrs. Tosis decide to give her away, their children try to cure the problem, but nothing works. Her days as the family pet are numbered?until she licks the faces of two burglars. They pass out cold on the living-room floor, and Hally becomes a heroine. With clothespins on their noses, the family concludes that "...life without Hally Tosis wouldn't make any scents." Two levels of humor coexist in this book, neither of them subtle. Children will laugh at pictures of people reeling from Hally's breath, while adults will groan over some of the more sophisticated puns. Fearing the loss of their loving pet, the Tosis children search for a cure, but not even a "breathtaking" mountain view seems to help. When Hally knocks two burglars cold with slurpy, smelly kisses, the Tosises decide to opt for clothespins on their noses "because life without Hally Tosis just wouldn't make any scents." Clouds of green breath wafting through the pictures create a scenario that's sure to appeal to a child's goofier side--especially if there's a pooch in the family. This one's a hoot!

If you like puns and sight gags, then you'll love Dav Pilkey's Dog Breath, subtitled The Horrible Trouble with Hally Tosis. This crime-fighting canine story is one pun after another. Those adults who don't appreciate a good (or a really bad) pun may groan, but kids will eat it up and ask for seconds.
Hally, the resident dog in the Tosis household, has breath so bad that when she opens her mouth, the leaves on the houseplants wither and die, the wallpaper curls up, and the picture of Mona Lisa holds her nose. Her breath is so bad that Mr. and Mrs. Tosis tell the kids the dog must go. The kids try everything to fix Hally's aroma -- the breath-taking view doesn't work, neither does the movie that promises to "take your breath away."
That night, two burglars, whose arrival has been heralded all through the illustrations, break into the Tosis house. The only thing that stops them from making off with all the family's stuff is, what else, a big, wet, sloppy, stinky slurp from Hally. Mr. and Mrs. Tosis can't kick a hero out of the house. Because, after all, life without Hally... no, I'm not going to spoil one of the best puns in the book for you; you'll just have to read it yourself

4 ½* Tongue Wags the Dog

The pleasingly familiar illustrations and comic sensibilities (i.e., silly, punny, off-hand) of famed children's writer Dav Pilkey are evident from the first line (and its accompanying illustration): "There once was a dog named Haley, who lived with the Tosis family." (Get it--Haley Tosis?). This dog is so smelly that Mona Lisa holds her nose, a skunk tries to hide, and Grandma Tosis faints after Haley gets in her face. After this, there are some typical Pilkey puns and visual humor as the family kids try to clean up her act.
After Haley saves her human family from some burglars, she becomes "the most famous crime-fighting dog in the country." The last page is quintessential Pilkey: The Tosis family, clothespins pinching their noses, gathers around Haley in an overstuffed chair, happy to keep their dog "Because life without Haley Tosis just wouldn't make any scents." Although the book has other such puns and clever pictures, it's mostly for younger kids. Pilkey really reaches his zenith in the "Captain Underpants" series, which features humor that is both more outrageous and layered. There's more fun and irreverence in those books, but this is a good introduction to Pilkey for the younger set.

i read this book to all the children i babysit, and never get tired of it. adults will get a kick out of the subtle puns that children might not understand. the pictures are adorable and hide little hints to the climax of the story. please, please check this book out!
