Great update to the original

Having bought the original in the late 90's I was interested to see how the book had been updated. The new example companies are perfectly chosen and the core message of the book remains the same, I am not sure if there is a better marketing book out there that describes the issues a startup company goes through defining and creating a market and then trying to take it mainstream. Classic text, comprehensively and intelligently updated.

Read it twice

When I was reading this book the first time, I commented on twitter about how great it was. A friend said I should turn around and read it again when I was finished, as I wouldn't get it all the first time. And I did, and he was right.

This is my new measure for quality books... books you read twice. This one should be read twice.

Power of Forgivness

The book show the power of forgiveness. This principle works with abuse and is actually the only cure for abuse. I picked this little nuggett up in the book An Encounter With A Prophet and found it a powerful tool in dealing with my past. The man named David illustrates this point very well for those open to the concept. I loved the book.

Best of the Three

This book is about the compassion and forgiveness the author finds in the face of horrible abuse. In the first two book we all felt the author's natural reactions to his abuse. Now in the third book the author gives us the solution. Not the solution to abuse but the solution for all victims of abuse - compassion and forgiveness. I did not get this understanding until after I read the book An Encounter With A Prophet which more explicitly shows how to accomplish the solution.

I've read all of Dave's books and each one reminds me of my childhood years. I was an abused child and reading these books brought bad memories of my past. Tears filled my eyes. For the first time ever males such as Dave are writing "their" story about abuse. Not for "MONEY" as some critics have mentioned. But to help people like me. People who have suffered silently through such a terrible childhood. Men need to stop suffering silently. It is not wrong to "tell your story" and I admire Dave for doing just that. I truly recommend any boy/man to read his book. It will move you and hope, heal some wounds!

Looking for the Best Primer on Patient Safety?

"Understanding Patient Safety" is the best primer on patient safety currently available. I highly recommend this text -- as a patient safety researcher, as a medical educator, and as a clinican leader. For someone new to the patient safety field, this text is perfect. It is very well written with lots of good illustrations and comprehensive coverage of all the key topics. It is substantive but not overly technical. There are excellent references at the end of each chapter. For someone tasked with teaching others about patient safety, this book is 'gold'. The text provides a wonderful 'map' to the field of patient safety -- highlighting, summarizing, and exploring all the key topics. The book would serve as an excellent text for introductory courses at undergraduate programs, medical schools, schools of public health, and patient safety institutes. Finally, the expert will find the text incredibly useful as a way to quickly brush up on those topics that are less familiar. This is a 'must have' for anyone in the patient safety field!

Great book, easy read

This book breaks down the topic of patient safety into easy reading chapters that are very comprehensive in dealing with the subject matter. Each chapter ends with a review of important points which is helpful in recalling the material. The tables and figures within the book are well designed and complement the material. Particularly useful are the references at the end of each chapter and the appendices at the end of the book. Anyone with a little knowledge of medical terminology will be able to understand the examples given in the book. Well done.

Great primer on patient safety with excellent references

I frequently read amazon reviews, now is my time to give back.

This book is hands down the most readable book on patient safety. It is elegant (i.e. simple) in its presentation and each chapter can be read with students to allow consumption of the materials over time. I have spent the last 16 years of my career working in medical informatics and I find the content to be of high value and balanced, even the sections on health information technology. Dr. Wachter does a nice job of filtering to references of high quality to guide deeper reading.

I think this should be required reading for all medical students.

An enlightenment.

I find this book quite a read. I appreciate that this book has combined the Law of Attraction and the concept of Manifestation. It is profound. And what is even better is that the book has been made for beginners, like me. I have read some books about the Law of Attraction, but never really understood what it is or how it works. This book made things clearer. And another thing worth mentioning is that this book made it clear why some people are still failing in their attempt to use the Law of Attraction and what they might be doing wrong. Indeed, when you put all your best, the universe will conspire to make you achieve what you want. This book is an enlightenment.

I am interested in knowing the Secret of Success. This book is talking about that, so I did not think too much ,then I decide to buy it. I am glad I have done that. There are a lot of information I never thought before, and they are all useful and valuable to me. Now, I have practice the strategies in this book everyday and feel more confident than before. I believe I will succeed one day in the future.

This book offered readers the chance to get anything they want or wish for. Provided of course that they do what must be done and make sue of the Law of Attraction in the right way. I find this book an inspiring reading experience. Well, books about the Law of Attraction always are, but this book has given me something more. It has given so much encouragement on how one can try to manifest and use the Law of Attraction. And I think that everything is worth a try. The book even said that this "will FORCE the universe to give you the life of your dreams..." If this is the offer, how can I reject it?

My 4 year old son Jack prayed this at bedtime tonight: "Dear God. Thank you for giving me your spirit to come in me. Help me to follow you with my whole heart. I don't want to follow you halfway like Halfway Herbert but all the way." It's been about a week since we've read Halfway Herbert. I think the prayer speaks for itself.

A Fun Take on Doing Things All the Way

"Herbert Hallweg was seven-and-a-half years old, three-and-a-half feet tall, and fifty-five-and-a-half pounds heavy. He had lots of friends, but none of them called him Herbert. Instead, everyone called him... Halfway Herbert."

That's how Francis Chan begins his children's book, Halfway Herbert. Herbert only ever does things halfway. He brushes half his teeth, does half his homework, eats half his food and gets half the sleep he needs. So when he is riding his bike and is only half paying attention, he hits his dad's car & decides to tell only half the truth... and gets caught in a whole lie. When his dad confronts him, he teaches Herbert that none of life isn't meant to be lived halfway--especially our lives as Christians.

In this book, Chan does a terrific job of distilling the core message of Crazy Love into a powerful reminder of the importance of loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. That there's no such thing as being halfway obedient to Christ--He demands all of us. Although we always follow imperfectly, even in that the Holy Spirit is making us more and more like Christ.

I was quite impressed when I read Halfway Herbert. It's geared perfectly to children around ages 4-8 (my oldest daughter listened attentively as my wife read it to her before we secretly bought it as a Christmas gift)--but it also has a lot to teach adults. Our children learn as much from our example what it means to be a Christian as they do from reading the Bible themselves. And when they're really young, they learn almost entirely from us. So what's the example we're setting? Do we live like people who are completely sold out for the cause of Christ... or are we, too, Halfway Herberts?

I'd highly encourage parents to pick up a copy of Halfway Herbert for their children. Read it together and encourage one another to live a life fully devoted to Christ.

Great book

I was wanting to explore in this area of ham radio, and needed something to help get me started. This book got me started. It's a very readable book, with an excellent brief history from Sputnik in 1957 to today's International Space Station. It has an extensive chapter on antennas and satellite ground station projects. Until I read this book, I didn't know I already had the equipment needed to make contacts up above with my own dual band 2 meter/440 mhz handy operating mobile out of my car with a little mag mount antenna. It lists all the current satellites for ham operation with operating frequencies. Together with my Droid Ham Sat satellite pass calculator app on my smartphone, I have what I need to get started. Not as extensive as the previous version

This version of the Satellite Handbook, while more up to date, is lacking in a great many respects to the earlier version by Martin Davidoff. If you really want to gain an understanding of satellite orbits for instance, this version has moved Davidoff's text to an appendix and removed all the illustrations. If you're serious about satellites, get both books.

ARRL Satellite Handbook

I'm just getting into with-satellite communication, despite a career track in electrical engineering and a long time in amateur radio. There was a lot I had missed. This book is a decent primer for that. There is other literature that is more specific on assembling a satellite-capable ground station, and I'll acquire those too. The more technical the material, the faster it tends to become obsolete. The material in this bolume is as close to timeless as one can get in a fast-moving field.
