While other works (Malleus Maleficarum, Demonolatry, Daemonologie, Compendium Maleficarum, Saducismus Triumphatus, ect.) dealing with the subject on witchcraft and demonology, taught that the individuals were, "Servants of Satan." Johann Weyer reported that many of these individuals were mentally disturbed as well as having an illness. Weyer believed in demons and hell, however, did not believe that every person accused of witchcraft was in league with the devil. A very important book on the reality witchcraft and demonology. A must read for any occultist, historian, and layman.

Almost "The One Textbook" for Photojournalism

I have been using Kobre's excellent book as a text for teaching Introductory Photojournalism ever since the first edition; it has always been the best source out there for teaching and has improved with each edition. I consider the current (5th Edition) is be almost "The ONE Textbook" for learning everything you need to know for understanding and practicing Photojournalism. A bit more on layout and design for Picture Stories would make it perfect.

In my full-time job I've been a full-time staff photographer with a large daily newspaper for over 30 years, and still, I come across something new with every reading of this book.

Book worth keeping!

I wanted to take a Photojournalism course at UCLA extension. But the course schedule conflicted with my schedule (and it was a little expensive). So i looked up and course text book and this was the text. It is very informative and really shows what the photojournalists does. The author really does know his stuff, but he doesn't just share his point of view, he quotes many other journalists too. Covers a lot of material but I particularly like sections regarding what roles photojournalists are to play, the legal aspects of shooting photos and tips to get started in photojournalism. Some bookd are a bore to read and are so superficial and light on material, this one isn't. Interesting photos and good writing makes this a keeper for me. Hope you find it the same way too.

Definitely a must have for any beginner

Excellent book! I put off buying it for over a year because I thought it was a bit pricey, but less than a month after reading it one of my photos made the front page of our local newspaper.

This is the second novel by Balzac I have read (Old Goriot the first) and I am quickly becoming a fan. I am looking forward to reading Cousin Bette. I agree with another reviewer who found it difficult to believe that Eugenie could fall so deeply in love with her cousin after one meeting. One might also wonder why the book was titled after Eugenie since the majority of the novel focused on her disgustingly greedy father. Eugnie did not become the main character until the last fourth of the novel. That aside, this is a good story and I enthusiastically recommend it.

superb translation

Penguin has commissioned new Balzac translations. Why? To be update? But Balzac is not writing now, and the translation, though now over half a century old, is more than serviceable. It is superb, offering perfect timing for Balzac's wonderful sentences, ironic and often funny. No more out of date than Balzac.

I don't know how many folks read Balzac these days. If one wanted to try one of his novels, this would be the one to try. It is not difficult to read and is not long. I have read a number of his novels and this was one of the best. If you do not care for this book, there is probably little point in trying the others.

Naked soldiers caught naked

This book is chock full of soldiers bare-assed or frontally naked. The men in the photos are shown in the shower, at a beach, on their bunks, etc. It is casual nudity of men living and working together. There are several pictures of naked men at play, such as one man sitting on another's shoulders in a lake. These are men, who were comfortable with one another without homophobia coming into play. It was innocent camaraderie without it being sexual. A lot of men would not like the thought of one guy's bare balls resting on his shoulder. These are average guys in the army caught exposing themselves in real-life situations. Not all of the guys are hunks, but they are all beautiful.

Beautiful photography book that is well worth the purchase price!

Great photography book! IF you were to judge a book by the cover, this one would be the winner. Beautiful cover, nice pictures, good historical commentary. Just an all around great book. I collect photography books and this is one of my new top favorites. It is also more reasonable in price than many photography books that are not as good. If you are interested in the male form or history, this is the book for you. The pictures give the viewer a peak of men in a natural, uncensored way, during a time of their sexual awakening and innocence without social labels. It is refreshing to see pictures that are not posed, or touched up like most contemporary photography books (especially gay male erotica). This book has value for its historical, as well as photographic images.

Rare view of WWII presented with quality and finesse.

Wow, so interesting and great that these were published. Show male bonding in a way that does not exist anymore due to homophobia. This is a time when guys could be guys and were not concerned so much about showing affection or looking gay. Its a nice history of WWII that has not been shown before. Quality book and fun really for anyone.
